REST Signing Details

This page describes some options for using the REST signing service.

GET versus POST

Query parameters may be submitted to either via GET or POST. Once the signature is calculated, it will perform a HTTP 302 redirect to an Amazon URL with all parameters in the query string as a GET request. This is due to lack of support for a method to perform a redirect with POST parameters.

The original hostnames include '' and '' among others. To use the API service, simply change the hostname to ''

If you need to use the API's for International Amazon sites, you can use the hostnames from the following table. These will properly sign the request and then redirect to the appropriate Amazon API

XSLT Usage

If your appliclation makes use of the XLST endpoints, you can use the following hostnames:

Free Account

A free account allows up to 30,000 requests per month (average of 1,000 requests/day). If your application exceeds that, we'd ask that you upgrade to a paid account. Sign up for a free account on the Sign Up page. Starting on October 1st, requests exceeding your monthly limit may have a short delay added.

After your account is created, you can monitor your usage at any time. If you don't know how many requests your application will use, get it working with a free account and use the usage report to predict how many requests you will use over a month

For users who require more than the 30,000 free requests, we also offer a paid service. Pricing is tiered based on the expected number of requests. If you don't know how many you'll use, just start out at the smallest level and it can be adjusted later if needed.

  • Up to 30k requests/month: Free
  • Up to 60k requests/month: $6.00/month
  • Up to 100k requests/month: $10.00/month

  • Up to 300k requests/month: $25.00/month
  • Up to 500k requests/month: $35.00/month
  • Up to 1 Million requests/month: $50.00/month

To sign up just for a paid account, just visit the Payment Page and select from the available options. After your PayPal subscription is activated, you can enter the necessary details on our secure form.
